JOURNEY INTO INTIMACY: THE PAINTINGS, PRINTS AND DRAWINGS OF KATHRYN V. CRABBE

Menifee – Kathryn V. Crabbe will exhibit mixed media paintings, prints and drawings from the past three years at the Sun City Library on May 27, 2012. Library hours are 12am-3:30pm, Sunday. Crabbe’s work spans the spectrum from printmaking to organic, abstract paintings to realistic still lives of Native American implements from the surrounding area.

In this exhibition, Crabbe, who is based in Temecula, will exhibit Untitled III from her 2011 series, Journey into Intimacy. Patterns and symbols are repeated and serve to evoke deep emotions and reverence for the spirituality of nature. “I depict an inner landscape of the senses. Part dream, part yearning and part sacred symbol, the work stems from a holistic perception of the world. Emotions are spiritualized into divine patterns pre-existing in nature — the circle, a seed pod,” states Crabbe.

Also on view will be a 2011 black and white pencil drawing titled Stone Basket along with several of her sketchpads and journals documenting daily sketches done live and on the spot from nature and around her property.

On display will be L2, a 2011 monoprint from her BodyPrint Healing series of drypoint intaglio prints and monoprints in which she again uses a variety of techniques and methods this time to explore transformative healing through the work.

Crabbe exhibits extensively throughout Southern California. She is a member of the Plein Air Artists of Riverside (PAAR) and the Printmakers Network at the Riverside Art Museum (PNET) as well as a volunteer at the Dorland Mountain Arts Colony in Temecula. Crabbe currently has work in several shows including Art and Earth: My Art, My World at the Murrieta Public Library, Tuesday, May 1 through Saturday, June 30 and she has an additional solo exhibit at San Marcos Library from Sunday, May 6 to Tuesday, June 24, 2012.
